Sheriff Mark Curran Receives Department of Defense Patriot Award

Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran has been given the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award.

Lake County Sheriff Mark C. Curran, Jr. received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award from the Department of Defense for supporting U.S. Army Reserve Staff Sergeant Julie Morris.  The ESGR recognizes employers who go above and beyond what the law requires in supporting National Guardsmen and Reservist who work for them in their civilian lives. Sheriff Curran was nominated by Corrections Sergeant Julie Morris for consistently accommodating the duty schedules of Morris and 10 other Deputies and Correction Officers who work for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.  Michael Peck, Superintendent for the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County, and Sergeant Julie Morris presented the award to Sheriff Curran. …

Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran to Run for Third Term

Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran wants to keep his current position for another term.

After announcing last December that he was considering a bid for attorney general in 2014, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, of Libertyville, said he now intends to seek a third term as sheriff, reported the Daily Herald. “I have decided to run for re-election for Lake County Sheriff. I have been entrusted for the past six years with the responsibilities as Sheriff of Lake County. Sheriff Supports Bill to Grant Undocumented Immigrants Driver's Licenses

Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran Jr. joins a coalition along with other sheriffs to push bill through General Assembly.

Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran Jr. is backing a bill requiring all Illinois drivers be licensed and insured including undocumented immigrants. Curran joined with the Highway Safety Coalition Tuesday in a press conference Tuesday calling on the Illinois General Assembly to “have courage and put highway safety first by passing legislation in veto session 2012 to require all Illinois drivers to be licensed and insured.” “There are a lot of undocumented immigrants that need to get to work and by virtue of the way the system is set up, by having to have a social security number, are not eligible to get a driver’s license,” Curran said. “By making sure they get licenses, we can ensure that they are going through a process (to learn) the Rules …
