The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced today it will conduct special patrols this Super Bowl weekend cracking down on drunk drivers and seat belt law violators. “We are reminding everyone that if you choose to drink and drive in Lake County this weekend, you will lose,” said Sheriff Mark Curran. “If you plan on drinking alcohol while cheering on your team, pass your keys to a sober driver before the Super Bowl party begins. The Lake County Sheriff's Department will hold its next Citizen Police Academy course starting March 7. Interested residents are invited to apply to the program, which will provide a first-hand look at how the office of Sheriff Mark Curran maintains law and order for the residents of Lake County. The academy is a 10-week program with classes running approximately three hours each on Thursday evenings. The class begins at 6:30 p.m. each evening. Instruction is provided by sworn deputies and civilians in their field of expertise and is designed to provide a hands-on experience.
