First you have a turkey that you can’t eat because it is still not cooked. You put it in a pan. Put some spikey things on it and make it spicy if you want. My family likes spicy but not me. Then you put it in the oven and cook it 20 hours at about 96 degrees. You pull it out and put some salad in the pan around the turkey. You can put some tomatoes if you want. Eat it! Serve it with Chinese food that has meat and dumplings. My favorite! There would be no dessert. My Mom and Dad don’t serve dessert, but I would like to serve vanilla ice cream with chocolate on the top and a cherry, too! That would be my favorite! Say, “Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!” — Grace Z. First, I just know now to make pizza. You need sauce, sugar, dough and a little…

Two Junior Girl Scout Troops make and distribute bags to kids in the hospital.
Last week, School District 96 had a welcome half-day to start the Memorial Day weekend. It was warm and sunny and there were children jumping on trampolines, riding bikes and splashing in pools. But this fun was not for the Junior Girl Scout Troops from Country Meadows Elementary School and Kildeer Countryside School. Nope, these young ladies used that half-day to think of others and do a service project that would allow them to receive the Bronze Award pin. According to the Girl Scouts of America website, the Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can earn. It gives girls a chance to learn the leadership and planning skills necessary to follow through on a community leadership project. Working toward this award …

Kildeer Countryside School students were treated to a performance by the Jesse White tumblers last month. The performance was sponsored by the Kildeer Countryside PTO. The tumblers performed two morning programs, attended by students and staff. Secretary of State Jesse White directed his team and told his student audience about his current job and the experiences that led him to coach the Jesse White Tumblers. He discussed the dedication and discipline that is required of a tumbler and called on a few team members to demonstrate basic moves such as the forward roll, the cartwheel, and the flip-flop. He also warned the young audience members not to go home to their own living rooms and try what they were about to see! The students and …
