Want a smaller trash toter? You can now request a 35-gallon container at no additional cost.
If you don’t generate much trash or your garage is a bit too narrow for the large receptacle that was delivered to your home last month, Buffalo Grove has good news for you. Village trustees approved Monday a revised contract with Waste Management that will allow residents to request a smaller trash toter with no impact to their monthly bill. Village Manager Dane Bragg said the renegotiated contract was “in direct response” to the complaints the village received from residents who thought the new cans, which came in 64- and 96-gallon sizes, were too large. “We’ve gotten a lot of complaints, especially from townhouse and condominium associations,” he said. Buffalo Grove residents will be able to throw out their garbage cans this spring when they receive new receptacles from Waste Management. The village’s new contract with the waste removal company includes a wheeled cart for each resident. The new cans have the same style as the Waste Management recycling bins, but the garbage can will have a green lid. Waste haulers will use a mechanical arm to lift and empty the cans without leaving their truck. The new carts will be delivered to residents between April 1-12, beginning at the north end of the village, according to the village's website. Residents of detached, single-family homes will receive 96-gallon carts while those in attached townhomes will get 64-gallon carts. Those who want to …
