Firefighters Ask Residents to Clear Snow from Hydrants
Removing snow from fire hydrants saves precious time during emergencies.
The Buffalo Grove Fire Department is asking residents to help keep fire hydrants free of snow so that they are accessible in the case of emergencies. When a fire occurs, seconds count, and when fire hydrants are buried in snow, they can be impossible to see. Residents are asked to shovel around fire hydrants after the storm has passed. By uncovering the hydrants, firefighters will have access from the street to the sidewalks and homes.
