Buffalo Grove's traveling Encore choir will sing Friday morning on CBS news.
Updated 3:15 p.m. Dec. 20 Friday's performance has been canceled due to the expected snow storm, the Buffalo Grove Park District announced this afternoon. CBS 2 Chicago has notified the park district that it will not film Encore tomorrow because it expects to need its cameras for snow coverage, park district staff said. Earlier: Encore, the traveling ensemble of the Buffalo Grove Park District's BG Singers choir, will perform holiday songs during CBS 2 Chicago's Friday morning news broadcast. The performance will include selections from Encore's holiday show. The choir will also promote its effort through The Manilow Project to collect musical instruments to benefit children who lost theirs in Hurricane Sandy. The choir is expected to sing…

Encore presents winnings from national vocal competition victory.
For Linda Rosen and Encore, a journey that started this summer came to a happy conclusion Tuesday when the Buffalo Grove vocal group handed over a $20,000 check to a local charity that helps families deal with the sudden loss of a loved one. “The reality of all this has sunk in with this presentation,” Rosen said as she sat, obviously overwhelmed, on the stage of Woodlawn Middle School after Encore and DDR, a shopping center management company, presented the check to the Lauri S. Bauer Foundation for Sudden Loss. “We knew there would be a goal, but to actually do this from beginning to end, this journey....,” she said, her voice trailing off in the emotion of the moment.
