In the first debate, the candidates focused on domestic issues, including the economy and taxes, health care reform and the role of government.  This second debate between the candidates is a town hall-style debate, including questions from the audience. It will focus on both domestic and international issues and will include questions from voters.  The tradition of holding live town hall debates for presidential candidates began in 1992 and has since proved to be one of the biggest challenges for debaters. Incumbent Slate Supporter Sets 'The Record Straight'

Letter to the Editor

I was appalled and disgusted when I received the V125 flyer dismissing the library renovation with a snide remark about $2 million dollars for a library and Starbucks! What a dismissal of the efforts made in designing a space for all students to grow and learn. Let me set the record straight. After 2 1/2 years of planning, the board voted to accept the bids for the library renovation. Countless hours were spent by school librarians, directors, teachers, para-professionals, architects, construction management company, administration and yes, the Board of Education in  researching, designing, and value engineering this important student space. The library had not been remodeled since the original school was built in 1965. It was dark, …

Praise for 'Prudent Fiscal Management'

Letter to the Editor

In his interview in the Stevenson newspaper, candidate Kim Brady states, “Stevenson is, financially, in a very healthy situation, and I would recognize the board and administration in terms of being prudent with school finance and then making sure that there is a reserve in place. I think that’s all a good thing.” Yet, Mr. Brady’s campaign website criticizes the very same “reserve” and “prudent” financial practices he praises. There are many good reasons for maintaining reserves. Reserves protect against the uncertainties of state and federal funding. This is all the more important when the State owes more than $2 million to Stevenson and continues to cut funds for special education, transportation, and other mandated programs! “Reserves” …
