Susie Paunan has coupon-clipping down to a science. The Buffalo Grove mother of two visits coupon-focused websites, such as mashupmom.com and chicagonow.com/blogs/frugalista, and checks out newspapers for coupons. She often sees coupons for new products, as manufacturers try to entice shoppers to try new foods by lowering the price. Paunan stated that while she's "not the best couponer," she has still saved money. "I clip coupons to save money and to be more frugal," she said. "It's also a lot of fun. Grocery shopping can be such a chore, but now it's a game." Her personal record is buying four containers of hummus, several jars of spaghetti sauce, and "a few other items," all for about $5.
