Elaine Nekrtitz is superb candidate running for State Rep in our community. She is smart, independent thinking and articulate. She has had the political courage to vote against rules put forth by Speaker Madigan that she thought should be changed and similarly had the courage to chair the Pension committee in an election year to try to tackle the biggest challenge facing our state. She may not have accomplished resolution yet but it does not take away from her hard work and dedication to try to bring people together to find a solution. She is respected by Democrats and Republicans, and without question one of the hardest working and best legislators in Springfield. That is why even though she is not in my district I have knocked on doors …

It is ironic that the often cited bipartisan bill that is used to argue about Bob Dold's moderation really shows he supports driving jobs overseas and severely altering Medicare. It is pointed out that Dold co/sponsored with a mere handful of Republicans and Democrats the Cooper Latourette debt reduction plan which Schneider has made clear he would not have supported. If those citing this purported sign of moderation would have shared the details of the Cooper plan it would have shown Dold's true colors, since as noted by the Center on Budget Policy and Priorities it would be clear that this bill which Dold co-sponsored would 1) provide exemptions for foreign profits which would Encourage tax avoidance and shift jobs overseas 2) the …

I have been so impressed with Carol Sente. I met her when she knocked on my door and asked me what I was concerned about. I have never had anyone in government ask me my opinions and concerns, and at that time I had a big concern. Carol came inside, sat down with me to listen to me, and followed-up with her office to help resolve my issue. It didn't matter whether she was a Democrat or Republican. She took the time to listen to me, care about my concerns, and help me. I wish we had more leaders like Carol Sente working every day for the residents of our community. Thank you Carol, good luck in the election! Sybil Stern Northbrook

Duckworth will report raising nearly $900,000 in the second quarter.
Democratic 8th Congressional District candidate Tammy Duckworth has raised a record amount of money in the second quarter, her campaign said. Duckworth, who is running against Republican Joe Walsh, will report raising at least $885,540 for the second quarter of 2012, her strongest fundraising quarter yet. Her campaign said this is believed to be the highest quarter for any House challenger from either party. Nearly 92 percent of the individual contributions Duckworth received this quarter were for $100 or less, with the average individual contribution being $79.97. Earlier this month, Walsh created a national controversy when he said Duckworth should stop talking about her military service, according to the Huffington Post. Duckworth lost …

Arlington Heights resident David Page will oppose Sen. Matt Murphy this fall.
David Page announced Wednesday he will run as the Democratic candidate in the 27th State Senate district. He will face incumbent Sen. Matt Murphy in the November general election. “The State of Illinois is on a path to financial failure caused by too many years of ‘band-aid’ fixes to the budget,” said Page, 43, of Arlington Heights. “It’s time to get this state back on fiscal track and stop kicking important decisions down the road for another day.” Page, a financial adviser for more than 20 years, grew up in the legislative district he now wants to represent. First elected in 2005, he now serves as president of the Arlington Heights District 25 School Board. Due to the absence of a Democratic candidate on the ballot in the March primary, …

Negative campaigning is sadly being injected into the Democratic Congressional race. Some opponents and their supporters have tried to wrongfully question Brad Schneider’s Democratic pedigree based on campaign contributions. Do not be distracted by this negative assertion. Brad has always been a strong supporter of Israel, and like many Democrats in our District, made some contributions to some supportive people on the other side of the aisle. I know Brad’s commitment to the democratic core issues is steadfast and the overwhelming majority of his support has been for Democratic candidates to insure that Congress includes strong Democratic candidates in our area and neighboring states. I suspect those who are spreading this negativism hopes…
