Lit Up for the Holidays

Lights add festive touch to the village's municipal campus.

Motorists driving down Lake-Cook Road near Raupp Boulevard pass through a twinkling wonderland, thanks to a festive display of thousands of holiday lights that illuminate Buffalo Grove's Village Campus. Trees near Village Hall, the public works building, the police department and along Lake-Cook Road are illuminated for the holidays with twinkling white lights that greet motorists fighting Lake-Cook Road traffic heading home from work or a day at the mall. Richard Kuhl, deputy director of public works, said that between 2,500 and 3,000 strands of lights, with 50 lights on each strand, were used this year. Recycle Holiday Lights

Unwanted or broken lights and cords? Bring them here.

Residents may drop off their old, non-functioning or unused holiday string lighting and extension cords for recycling now through Feb. 11. These materials can be dropped off at the Buffalo Grove Village Hall from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and at the Buffalo Grove Police Department 24 hours per day.
