1 Hospitalized, Roads Closed Following 2-Car Crash

Buffalo Grove police and paramedics responded to an April 22 crash at the intersection of Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads.

One person was taken to a hospital Monday night following a crash between two SUVs that shut down the intersection of Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads. Buffalo Grove Sgt. Tim Gretz said a driver attempting to turn from westbound Dundee Road onto southbound Buffalo Grove Road was hit by an eastbound vehicle just before 10 p.m. Monday night. A person in the eastbound vehicle was transported to the hospital with facial abrasions and a leg injury, Gretz said. The accident is under investigation and no citations were issued at the scene, he said. Buffalo Grove police and fire personnel closed Dundee Road in both directions as well as northbound Buffalo Grove Road as the accident was cleared. Driver Crashes into Funeral Procession, Two Taken to Hospital

Traffic was rerouted Friday morning after a four-car accident at 11:15 a.m. Feb. 15 at the intersection of Lake-Cook and Buffalo Grove roads.

Two people were hospitalized and roads were shut down Friday morning (Feb. 15) after a driver collided with a funeral procession at the intersection of Lake-Cook and Buffalo Grove roads. A man driving a Honda CRV, heading north on Buffalo Grove Road, crashed into a Toyota Camry that was in the middle of a funeral procession headed west on Lake-Cook Road, Buffalo Grove Police Cpl. Tom Dattilo said.  “After those two collided, the CRV continued north and collided with two cards stopped in traffic, going southbound,” Dattilo said. A passenger in the Honda CRV and one of the drivers stopped on southbound Buffalo Grove Road were transported to Northwest Community Hospital, he said. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, he said. …

Buffalo Grove's history is well known. It was incorporated in 1958, and the village received its name because a herd of buffalo grazed by the trees along Buffalo Creek. But did you know that Buffalo Grove’s history is much older? According to Debbie Fandrei, the Raupp Museum’s coordinator, Buffalo Grove has an intriguing history. The Potawatomis once lived in the area. Settlers from New England arrived in the 1830s, and farmers from Germany arrived in the 1840s. “Until the 1950s, Buffalo Grove did well, but it wasn’t growing,” Fandrei said. The following were the key factors that influenced Buffalo Grove’s early years as an incorporated village. By the 1960s, Buffalo Grove’s population would total more than 1,500 residents. Buffalo Grove Road Improvement Study Begins

Residents gathered Tuesday to learn more about road conditions and share their thoughts about possible improvements.

Lake County officials are in the early stages of planning for the future of Buffalo Grove Road as the pavement ages and draws more traffic. The county’s transportation division kicked off its first phase of a road study Tuesday during an open house, where residents were invited to review road conditions and traffic data and pose questions to Lake County officials. While a road improvement plan has not been established for the stretch of Buffalo Grove Road between Deerfield Parkway and Route 22, future work could include widening the road to four lanes, adding turn lanes and extending the bike path between Brandywyn Lane and Aptakisic Road, Lake County project manager Chuck Gleason said. “The reason why we’re studying it is really that …

Input Wanted on Buffalo Grove Road Improvements

Residents are invited to provide feedback on a proposal to improve Buffalo Grove Road between Route 22 and Deerfield Parkway.

The Lake County Division of Transportation will conduct a public meeting regarding proposed improvement study of Buffalo Grove Road from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at Twin Groves Middle School. The purpose of the meeting is to solicit public comment, and gather information to supplement the existing conditions data. Maps and exhibits will be available for viewing. Staff from the Lake County Division of Transportation and engineering consultant Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc., will be available to discuss the existing roadway conditions and answer questions. Buffalo Grove, Long Grove Firefighters Respond to Wheeling Blaze

A house fire broke out Thursday night in Tahoe Village, just east of Buffalo Grove Road.

Buffalo Grove was among about a dozen fire departments that responded Thursday night to a house fire on Custer Court, just east of Buffalo Grove Road in Wheeling. Firefighters were working around 10:45 p.m. on the blaze, which engulfed both stories of the Tahoe Village townhome. They remained on the scene after midnight, when dark smoke continued to pour from the building. Witnesses said the residents were evacuated by firefighters after a neighbor noticed the fire and called 911. In addition to Buffalo Grove, Wheeling firefighters were assisted by responders from Long Grove, Rolling Meadows, Elk Grove, Prospect Heights, Palatine, Glenview, Northbrook and Des Plaines.

Buffalo Grove Road Construction Begins

Portions of the road will be closed for repairs from Sept. 7-Oct. 1

The Lake County Division of Transportation will close Buffalo Grove Road from Aptakisic Road to Main Street while crews patch the road for the next four weeks. The road closures, which began Sept. 7 and are scheduled to last through Oct. 1, will be implemented in four stages. Detour signs will lead drivers on the following routes: Sept. 7-10 —  The northbound lane of Buffalo Grove Road will be closed to all traffic from Illinois Route 22, Half Day Road to Main Street. Northbound traffic will be detoured east on Route 22 to Main Street. Sept. 13-17 — The southbound lane of Buffalo Grove Road from Main Street to Illinois Route 22 will be closed to all traffic.
