Who is best at coloring in Buffalo Grove?
Four children were recognized for their coloring skills this week by the Buffalo Grove Police Department. Students in kindergarten through third grade submitted coloring pages that were distributed to Buffalo Grove schools in conjunction with May's designation as "Bike Month." This year's winners were: The young artists each received a $25 gift card, donated by Buffalo Grove Bank & Trust, Monday night at Village Hall.

ALCOHOL An intoxicated person was found stumbling by the roadside at 3:13 p.m. May 19 at North Buffalo Grove and West Lake-Cook roads. An officer contacted a family member who took the person home. Kennethraj Kanniah, 43, of the1100 Block of Lockwood Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor May 16 at Walgreens. FOUND PROPERTY A resident of the 300 Block of Town Place Circle reported May 18 that an item fell of a truck and landed in their yard. THEFT Someone left the Shell station without paying for gas at 7 a.m. May 13. Driver information was obtained and officers will contact the customer. A resident reported several unauthorized purchases were made on his credit card between January 2011 and December 2012. OTHER INCIDENTS A resident reported receiving a notice from a doctor’s office stating that someone used her personal information to make appointments on May 13.
The week-long program is open to 20 community members between the ages of 12 and 15.

Steven Casstevens will replace Chief Steve Balinski, who retired last month.
Buffalo Grove has chosen an experience suburban law enforcement officer as the new chief of the Buffalo Grove Police Department. Steven Casstevens, the current chief of the Cary Police Department, has been hired by Village Manager Dane Bragg to lead Buffalo Grove's police force, the village announced Friday. Casstevens has more than 30 years experience as a law enforcement and management professional. He will replace Steve Balinski, who retired in April after 36 years serving the village. Casstevens will assume his post in Buffalo Grove on June 10.
