I'm liking this mystery couple’s low-key and memorable proposal.
This will make me sound like a curmudgeon, but here it goes: In general, I can’t stand showy, over-the-top public proposals. You might think this is odd, especially as I’ve spilled much digital ink on the Buffalo Grove Patch regarding how much I love weddings. But it’s true: I can’t stand in-your-face proposals. For one thing, it’s neither creative nor imaginative to propose to your beloved on a JumboTron in front of 15,000 people (as noted in this tongue-firmly-in-cheek post), or to hire a plane to write a message in the sky. Over-the-top proposals have been done a hundred times before in countless romantic comedies and TV shows, as well as in real life, and I don’t get the point.
