Crowds Brave The Heat At Art Fest

Art lovers braved the heat wave temperatures at Buffalo Grove's Invitational Art Festival.

Art lovers braved 90-degree-plus temperatures to peruse jewelry, paintings, photography and ceramics Sunday at the Buffalo Grove Invitational Fine Art Festival. With the Buffalo Grove Rotary Club and event sponsor Amdur Productions providing much-needed free water and misting stations, modest-sized crowds braved the oven-like temperatures as they checked out the work of 162 artists. “This is really hot,” said Wynne Baruch of Buffalo Grove, who wore a cowboy hat as protection from the sun. “But there are some great artists here.” To avoid the hottest time of the day, many fest attendees said they arrived early or planned to stay for a short while. Frosty water bottles competed with sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats as must-have fashion items…

Weekend Festival Brings Art To Buffalo Grove

The village's annual Invitational Fine Art Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday.

Jewelry, paintings, photographs, sculptures and assorted other art will be on display and available for purchase this weekend at Buffalo Grove’s 10th Annual Invitational Fine Art Festival. This year’s festival, held on the grounds of the Town Center at the northwest corner of Lake-Cook and McHenry roads, features 162 juried artists. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission and parking are free. The festival also will showcase Unique Expressions, a mini art fair organized by the Commission for Residents with Disabilities and featuring work by five artists with disabilities on Saturday.
