Make the Most of Black Friday at Local Malls

Malls across the region are offering steep price drops, giveaways and special promotions to those willing to fight the crowds the day after Thanksgiving.

Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg isn’t wasting a minute of shopping time on Black Friday. Doors will open at midnight and all stores will be open, spokeswoman Carol Vesely said. In addition to Black Friday sales at the individual stores, the mall is offering a couple of extra holiday promotions. The first 250 pajama-clad adults who enter through Door 1 at midnight will receive a $20 Woodfield Mall American Express gift card as well as a Santa hat. Door 1 is located on the lower level of the JCPenney wing, near Subway and Santa’s Treasure Chest. Early morning shoppers can also qualify for a free shopping tote. Shoppers who show receipts totaling $100 in Black Friday purchases by 10 a.m. can pick up a bag at Guest Services in the center of the …

Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday rule the shopping roost after Thanksgiving.

If you have a black belt in Black Friday shopping, listen up: area big-box retailers are gearing up to dazzle bargain hunters even earlier this year —starting on Thanksgiving Day! Last week, Walmart announced that it would open its doors at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22 and offer holiday doorbusters while supplies last. These include deals on TVs, iPads, an electric scooter for $79 and a steam mop for $39. Not to be outdone, Target and Best Buy are also planning all-out holiday shopping assaults. Big-box stores aren't the only businesses offering Black Friday deals this holiday season. Check out some of these local businesses offering shopping opportunities throughout the area. Barrington Spend $50 in shoes or boots get $50 in gift certificates from Young Tootsies Children's Shoes in the Ice House Mall. The deal is good through 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. Customers who spend $75 you are also eligible for $100 gift certificate drawing that is good for all stores there. Learning Express Toys is offering 20 percent off everything through Nov. 28.
