Big Deal Productions, the performing arts division of the Buffalo Grove Park District, is pleased to present "Annie" as its 2012 summer musical. Directed by Ken Preuss, choreographed by Jen Cupani and co-music directed by Michael Goldman and Ken Preuss, this family-friendly show follows the adventures of Annie, the popular comic strip heroine. Performances will be held in Stevenson High School's the west auditorium at 7 p.m. July 20, 21, 27 and 28 and at 2 p.m. July 22 and 29. Tickets purchased in advance online are $16 for adults and $14 for children 12 and under. Tickets purchased at the door will be $20 for adults and $17 for children 12 and under. Big Deal Productions, the performing arts division of the Buffalo Grove Park District, was recently selected to receive a National 2011 Dorothy Mullen Arts and Humanities, Class IV Award by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). NRPA will present the award publicly at a special reception at the association’s 2011 Congress and Exposition in Atlanta, Georgia on Nov. 2. Each year, NRPA National Awards are presented to individuals and agencies across the U.S. to honor their efforts—both professional and personal—in the field of parks and recreation. Big Deal Productions, a program of the Buffalo Grove Park District, presents "The Wedding Singer" as its summer musical. The show opens today, with performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. July 29 and 30, at 2 p.m. July 24 and 31 in the Stevenson High School West Auditorium. Based on the popular movie of the same name, this humorous musical, set in the 1980s, features a retro score containing songs such as, "Grow Old With Me," "Come Out of the Dumpster" and "Casualty of Love."
