If the Village Bar & Grill's hot dogs were kept quiet before, well, the secret's out. The restaurant's hot dogs, which are not publicized on the menu, but are available upon request, were voted best in Buffalo Grove in this week's Chowdown Showdown. Which of these four restaurants serves the best dogs?
When we asked this week which Buffalo Grove restaurant serves the best hot dogs, nominations poured in for Wiener Take All. However, fans also made it clear that there are other hot dog destinations in town. This week’s Chowdown Showdown features Michael's Chicago-Style Red Hots, Tasty Spin, Village Bar & Grill (while hot dogs aren’t listed on the menu, they are readily available, a restaurant employee confirmed) and Wiener Take All. The results are in!
We asked Buffalo Grove Patch readers this week to tell us where they head for a meal when they want the best bang for their buck. The answer was clear: New Golden Dragon came out on top, securing 46 percent of the votes. Congratulations, New Golden Dragon! The Chinese restaurant has received past accolades on Patch. “Where else can you get soup, fried rice, an entree, an egg roll, and tea for $4.60 AFTER tax? Superior hot n sour soup and friendly service,” one reviewer wrote. New Golden Dragon was also voted home of Buffalo Grove’s best Chinese food in January. We received a flood of enthusiastic responses this week when we asked where hungry Buffalo Grove residents go for a good fish fry. Buffalo Grove Patch received a record 59 nominations from community members who made it clear that there are two places to find a great fish fry in town: The Arboretum Club’s Wild Goose Café and Prairie House Tavern. Which one is the best? That’s what will be determined this week, when the two restaurants face off in the Chowdown Showdown Fish Fry poll. The poll will be open until 5 p.m. Thursday. Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places.
