‘Fitness 19 Fest’ Set for May 4

Fitness 19, 1601 W. Campbell Street, Arlington Heights will hold its third annual Fitness 19 Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4 in the Westgate Plaza parking lot, at the intersection of Campbell and Wilke streets.   The event is billed as a community celebration, and promises something for the entire family. Nearly 30 area businesses in and around Arlington Heights will be on-hand to provide product demonstrations, food, giveaways and an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the services they provide. Children can enjoy some bouncy house fun, get their faces painted and participate in a number of activities aimed at promoting "kid-fitness." Stevenson Graduate Dies in Chicago Crash

The accident happened early Tuesday near the United Center, according to the Chicago Tribune.

An Arlington Heights woman is dead after crashing her 2002 Scion into a concrete median near the United Center in Chicago around 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, authorities told the Chicago Tribune.  Shawna Daro, of the 200 block of West Miner Street, was alone in her car when the accident happened, the Tribune reports.  Daro, 30, was a 2000 graduate of Stevenson High School, according to The Journal and Topics.

Watch, Join Artists at Arlington Heights' Paint Out Event

Outdoor studio event is scheduled for Sept. 16.

Local artists set up their studios outdoors on the museum grounds during the Art Around the Grounds event from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sept. 16, at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 W. Fremont, Arlington Heights. Admission is free. This year’s event coincides with the Worldwide Plein Air Paint Out and many plein air artists will be on the grounds creating paintings and pastels. The artists share the inspiration and camaraderie in working in an outdoor studio without boundaries or restrictions. The museum grounds offer a variety of subject matter which includes the beautiful gardens and historical buildings.  The public is invited to watch them work and ask about technique and media use. Couple Found Dead in Arlington Heights

Police found a couple shot to death in their Arlington Heights home Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Police found an Arlington Heights couple shot to death in their home Wednesday, Jan. 25. Angelita James, 56, and her husband, Roger D. James, 48, were found dead in their home in the 900 block of East Shady Way by police at about 8:40 a.m. Officers went to the home after Angelita James' son called police concerned that his mother had not shown up for work for two days. Police went to the James home and deterimined the mother's vehicle and her husband's vehicle were in the parking lot. After not getting a response at the door, Arlington Heights police and fire personnel forced their way inside, a press release from the police department states. "A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of two deceased individuals," the press …
