Shanes Wins Judge Race, Braiman Remains Mayor

Unofficial vote tallies show Judge Daniel Shanes won the race by just over 3,000 votes.

Updated 11:50 p.m. Early votes and mail-in votes have now been tallied. They are included in the chart below. Shanes is ahead of Braiman by more than 3,000 votes. The totals do not include provisional ballots or late-arriving mail-in ballots.  Updated 11 p.m. With all Lake County precincts reporting, Judge Daniel Shanes is the apparent winner in the race for the 19th Judicial Circuit, 3rd Subcircuit. Election-day results show Shanes took 55 percent of the vote. He received 16,583 votes to Jeff Braiman's 13,345. Judge Daniel B. Shanes is the clear choice for Lake County Circuit Judge to be elected on November 6. Since his judicial appointment in 2007, Judge Daniel Shanes quickly rose through the judicial ranks and now presides over a felony courtroom, where he hears and administers justice in the most complex and serious criminal cases in Lake County.
