Be smart and efficient about your job search and application: get the inside track with these free workshops. For entrepreneurs, a business planning class will help you launch your big idea.

Job seekers and entrepreneurs will find a bounty of free winter programming at the Vernon Area Public Library in Lincolnshire. From writing cover letters that get a call back, to writing a business plan that sets up success, Lake County experts will share their expertise in ideal, small group settings. Attend these business-focused programs:

  • Write Yourself into a Job
    Are you putting your best foot forward when you write a letter or email to request an informational interview? Is your thank you note getting you a call back? In this workshop with Lake County Workforce Development, get real-time information on how to write effective resumes and cover letters for each job application. Learn about the importance of a cover letter and a sample structure. TUESDAY, JANUARY 8, 1–2:30 PM
  • Job Search Strategies
    In this workshop, Lake County Workforce Development will lead our exploration of current job search techniques, including making online applications, visiting company websites, researching target companies, networking, and job support groups that are right for you. THURSDAY, JANUARY 17, 1–2:30 PM
  • Before Writing a Business Plan: 10 Things You Need To Do First
    Boost your chances for financial success by checking off these 10 things from your to-do list before sitting down to write your business plan. Business coach and graduate school professor Monty Edson provides expert insight and a clear checklist. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 7–8 PM
