Give Gifts that Help Children Succeed with United Way of Lake County's Holiday Catalog

Support #Giving Tuesday, a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season with UWLC's Holiday Gift Catalog at www.liveunitedlakecounty.org/holiday.

Black Friday. Small Business Saturday. Cyber Monday. These popular days following the Thanksgiving holiday have become commonplace in many American households.

All of these days kick off holiday spending, but what about giving gifts that really matter? That’s where “Giving Tuesday” comes in. “Giving Tuesday” is a new campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.

United Way Worldwide is a founding partner for “Giving Tuesday,” a new concept to encourage people to give to and engage with non-profit organizations early in the giving season.  “Giving Tuesday” is Tuesday, Nov 27, immediately following Black Friday (11/23), Small Business Saturday (11/24) and Cyber Monday (11/26).

Within our community, United Way of Lake County (UWLC) has developed an online Gift Giving Catalog, available at www.LIVEUNITEDlakecounty.org/holiday.  It allows people to easily give that help children in Lake County succeed. It's a wonderful way to make the season more meaningful while preparing our children to succeed in a changing world.

Every gift is a unique way to honor the friends and loved ones on your holiday list by making a gift in their name.  Make a donation in honor of or in memory of a special person who made a difference in your life. Or consider a gift from United Way of Lake County’s Holiday Catalog in lieu of holiday gifts to your employees or clients.

Whether you choose to provide a school readiness kit for a preschooler or sponsor a computer training night for high school parents, any gift you choose will bring both hope and encouragement. And because every tax-deductible gift goes toward United Way of Lake County’s overall mission, you'll help prepare children to succeed in a changing world.

About United Way of Lake County:

United Way of Lake County (UWLC) is preparing our children to succeed in a changing world by focusing on education and building safe and stable families. Working with nonprofit agencies and community partners, we have identified four key programs to prepare children to succeed: Success By 6 Program – prepare for kindergarten; Reading Success Program – read at grade level; Stay in School Program – graduate high school; Safe and Stable Families Program – empowering families. UWLC is overcoming reading and educational barriers by reaching children, from preschool through high school, through these key programs.  The overall effect and benefits are multiplied by the strong collaboration with agencies and our community partners. www.liveunitedlakecounty.org.
