9 Hospitalized After Crash at Deerfield Road and Milwaukee Avenue

Three cars and a bus were involved in a crash the afternoon of Aug. 21.

Nine passengers on a bus were taken to at least four area hospitals with minor injuries after the vehicle in which they were riding collided with three cars near the intersection of Deerfield Road and Milwaukee Avenue in Riverwoods.

“Nine persons were transported, all with minor injuries,” Lincolnshire Fire Department Battalion Chief Duane Christiansen said. 

The bus was from the Greek American Rehabilitation & Care Center in Wheeling. A spokesperson for the organization gave no further details.

The hospitals included Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Lake Forest Hospital and Highland Park Hospital, according to Christensen.

Deerfield Parkway is closed west of Milwaukee Avenue following a multi-vehicle crash, according to Lake County Passage.

According to a report from Current Incident Notification Services at 4:49 p.m. three cars and a bus collided near the intersection. Seven people were injured, CINS reported.

At least four ambulances have been sent to the scene in Riverwoods, according to CINS. Buffalo Grove police are on the scene to help direct traffic, a dispatcher told Patch.

Lake County Passage also reports that there are traffic delays on northbound Route 45, south of Deerfield Road, due to the crash.
