Summer Begins, Power Fails in Buffalo Grove

Power is out in at least one Buffalo Grove neighborhood on June 20, the first day of summer.

At least one Buffalo Grove neighborhood is without power tonight, as ComEd crews work to restore electricity.

Residents of Farrington Court, Woodhaven Lane and Wyngate Lane are among those affected. In all, 88 customers are in the dark, according to ComEd’s website.

“We have a crew onsite. We don’t know what caused it yet,” a ComEd spokesman said.

The power went out around 7:43 p.m., the spokesman said. Customers are expected to have power restored by 1 a.m., according to the website.

Buffalo Grove suffered last summer, when some customers were without electricity for . Some of the outages were blamed on severe weather, and others on infrastructure.

Those outages have maintained at the forefront of village officials' minds; this spring, Village President Jeff Braiman asked the Illinois Commerce Commission to residents whose food perished during the outages.

More recently, the electric company cautioned citizens that when they hit power lines.
