By Korrina Grom

Hot.

That basically sums up this week's forecast, which includes highs from the mid-80s to 90 degrees most days.

The week will start with a high near 85 on Monday. There's also a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

On Tuesday, the forecast high is 88 degrees. Once again, there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has placed all of northern Illinois in the "slight risk" category for severe weather for Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to hit 90 degrees on Wednesday. There's a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day on Wednesday, and a 50 percent chance Wednesday night.

That chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue on Thursday, along with a forecast high near 86.

Temperatures are forecast to cool slightly on Friday, with a high near 82. The weekend will be much cooler than the rest of the week, with forecast highs of 76 and 77 for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
