Buffalo Grove Presents National Night Out

The annual community event will take place from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 7 at Willow Stream Park South.

Buffalo Grove community members are invited to gather Tuesday, Aug. 7 for National Night Out. The gathering will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at , 651 Old Checker Road.

As in the past, the event will include live music, games, inflatable attractions, displays from the Buffalo Grove police and fire departments and free food, including custard from , hot dogs from , and chips and drinks. Representatives from businesses, community groups and governmental agencies will be on hand.

National Night Out, held annually in communities throughout the country, aims to “promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation,” according to its website.

In Buffalo Grove, where the event is presented by the , the event is an opportunity for the community to come together for an evening of fun.

“Thousands of residents participate,” said Buffalo Grove Park District spokesman Mike Terson. “It’s really nice to see families who participate in so many different programs throughout the year come together and have fun at one event.”

The schedule includes:

5-7 p.m.

  • Music by REWIND 100.3
  • Local business expo on the basketball court (Patch will be there!)

5-7:30 p.m.

  • Picnic in the park, free food while it lasts
  • Inflatable attractions
  • Games
  • Police and fire department displays
  • Giveaways

6-8 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to the Buffalo Grove Police Challenge trailer. Donations will be distributed to local food pantries supported by the Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council.
