Pro Baseball Pick 'Em Contest Winner Announced

Patch user "mp" guessed that the teams would combined for 33 runs, two fewer than the actual total of 35.

Editor's note: Due to an oversight, the winner of this contest was incorrectly announced on Tuesday. We sincerely regret the error.

It shouldn’t be surprising that most entrants in did not give the batters enough credit in making their selections.

Milwaukee outscored Chicago 18-17 in the three-game series over the weekend, and few participants counted on 35 total runs from the teams battling for last place in the division.

By guessing the (Brewers 19, Cubs 14), Patch user "mp" was chosen to win the $100 gift card good for pro baseball apparel.

Thanks to everyone who participated. Enjoy the rest of the baseball season!

hi, people! something looks very fishy bout this contest. i WAS the other winner or i should say i was the ONLY winner. i read thru ALL the entries posted for the scores and i Was the only person who put a prediction score of 32. hmmm??? i read thru several times and did NOT even see this guy, gary zambo's name, anywhere on the entries i've e-mail the patch editor, cristel, and haven't had a reply/explaination to this. think somebody out there can tell me what happenned here? am i missing something? boy, was i excited on sun., watching the game.scores and knew i couldn't loose. 31 runs was the closest to me. take a look for yourself. they posted 19 entries. and none of them was this gary zambo fellow.i'm gonna keep looking into this. i never win "Jack"!!! anyone have any idea how i can figure this out, please? thanks if you can. wm. muller

Hi William,
The winner was selected among all submissions from the Chicagoland and Milwaukee area. Our sites can only link to other Patches in the immediate area, so not all of the submissions were visible on this site. You can find some of the other submissions at http://muskego.patch.com/articles/pro-baseball-pick-em-contest-winner-announced and http://evanston.patch.com/articles/contest-guess-scoring-outcome-in-milwaukee-chicago-series-to-win-100-gift-card-83093a42#pdf-9650046 The original winner was named based on a random drawing. However, we learned that there was a correction made this week to the winner, as one of the Wisconsin contestants actually guessed 33 runs. This story has been updated to reflect that. Thanks for playing. And, as they say, there's always next year!

still sounds "fishy"!!! i found gary zambo on facebook. sorry gary that we both got excited for nothing. my poor lil niece and nephew aren't going to get a summer sports surprise from their uncle. oh, well congrats to "MP" with your win. (if you actually exist!) NOW, bring on the next contest. i believe in the Cubbies. they can win. so why not me, someday. and don't screw it up this time. OK? ;)

hmmm? i checked out the other sites cristel posted to see MP'S guess/entry. guess what. no MP. If mp is from the muskego patch, they've deleted all their entries. how convenient. can we say "ALWIVES". phew! taliban? i'm giving up gotta go see what that "package" is that just got tossed on my balcony just now. later, peeps. go Cubbies!!!

That was actually the Wisconsin story that announced the winner. If you click the link to the contest page (http://muskego.patch.com/articles/contest-guess-scoring-outcome-in-milwaukee-chicago-series-to-win-100-gift-card) you'll see the entries. Sorry for the confusion!

I saw a post about requesting a new toter 2-3 weeks ago and called Waste Management right away toRead More get my name on the list. They told me the new 35-gallon one would be delivered the week of 6/24. When I looked outside this morning upon hearing a truck, I saw that they took my old one and replaced it with the 35-gallon toter. (Today is my trash day.) It may take time for the delivery to occur since it takes longer than when they pickup your trash and it's someone with a different vehicle doing it. The only problem I have with WM is they didn't take the old wicker lawn chair I left out for the trash.

While I understand the intended benefits of these new toters (increased efficiencies by WM, whichRead More should help keep residents' costs down), there has been an unintended consequence to this. As you walk around the neighborhood, you now see the majority of homes having to leave the toters OUTSIDE, even for those who were successful in getting the smaller ones delivered. How many homes now have their garbage sitting alongside their garages, or even out on their driveways, all the time? Not exactly eye-appeal. I was able to fit mine into the garage, barely, next to my recycle toter, but now I can't open the back door of my car when its in the garage. I only hope that the raccoons don't figure out how to lift the lids!
