The Do’s and Don'ts of a Car Wrap

A car wrap can be an excellent way to generate interest in your business. It's essentially a mobile billboard, advertising your business everywhere you go.

A car wrap can be an excellent way to generate interest in your business. It’s essentially a mobile billboard, advertising your business everywhere you go.  In order to maximize both the effectiveness and value of a car wrap, it needs to be cared for properly. Proper care includes washing technique, where to store your car and the best way to handle repairs.

Frequent washings are one of the best ways to keep your car wrap looking its best. They are also a good way to prevent wear to your wrap. Just like the body of a car, things like salt and dirt can damage your wrap if left unchecked. It’s important to note that while a wrap can withstand a car wash, hand washing is the far superior method. This is because car washes have the potential to scratch your wrap. A hand wash assures proper care and should be done at least on a monthly basis for best results.

The environment can also damage your car wrap if you have any peeling or deep scratches. Small scratches are merely cosmetic issues but deeper ones can damage your car if they are not properly repaired. If dirt or gravel from the road gets underneath the wrap through the scratch, it can damage both your paint job and wrap. The same is true for peeling. Peeling can be repaired much easier when it begins and a quick repair prevents potential damage.

Sun damage is just a fact of owning a car wrap. It is unavoidable, but it can be minimized. If at all possible and especially during peak sun hours, park in a garage. Parking in a garage instead of outside also means that your vehicle is not exposed to other damaging elements. If you have to park outside, don't be afraid of a little walk if it means you get a shady parking spot.

As you can see, proper care for your car wrap does not have to be complicated. Wash by hand, store your car indoors and repair early and your wrap could last a decade! And if you’re thinking about getting a car wrap, remember that it’s one of the most cost-effective ways to advertise your business!
