Best Signage Options for Restaurants

Signage is a versatile tool for the restaurant industry. Indoor signage enables you to communicate with customers and keep them informed. Outdoor signage attracts attention and identifies your business. A carefully chosen selection of signage that is consistent with your branding is a good way to set yourself apart from the competition. Restaurant signage isn't one size fits all, but there are some classic options that can be customized for any application.

Achieve Absolute Visibility

You should have a business sign on every side of your building that is visible to traffic. This is critical for attracting new customers and allowing first time customers to identify your building. There are many excellent options for outdoor restaurant signage and you should feel free to mix and match them as it suits your location. Custom signs allow you to determine the size, design, and material best suited for your restaurant. These are always a great choice. A hanging sign or banner is a good way to capture attention on walls adjacent to a sidewalk or road. If a parking lot separates you from traffic, a pylon sign or a monument sign allows you to expand your reach. Awning graphics are a great way to supplement other signage, especially window lettering.

Capitalize on Foot Traffic

If you have foot traffic outside your restaurant, you need a sidewalk sign. A custom sidewalk sign with your logo and style of cuisine is a classic way to attract the attention of passersby. There are also less static options, for advertising specials and events. Changeable letter, chalk, and dry erase sidewalk signs all allow you to customize your messaging at any time.

Direct and Inform Customers

Your indoor signage is a way for your business and customers to interact. Convenient, directional signage is a must for restrooms and banquet rooms. Customers should be able to find whatever they need without a staff member, in the event that one is unavailable. Menu boards aren't necessary for every restaurant, but they are essential for many. Changeable letter and chalk are both options for menu boards, as well as digital.

Take Advantage of Your Space

Don't overlook smaller or more unconventional types of signage. Adding branded floor mats is a minor thing, but it can set your restaurant apart from others. If you have a dedicated delivery vehicle, add a vehicle wrap. Vinyl letters or custom neon can be added to an empty window as a great way to garner more attention.

Don't Forget Any Signage That is Mandated by Law

Health certifications and employee hand washing notices aren't as exciting as the signage detailed above, but they are required in many areas.  If required, the key is to make those notices as attractive as possible.  Rather than taping a piece of paper on the wall, enclose the notice in a nice frame to maintain an attractive atmosphere.

There are so many signage options for restaurants, and part of utilizing the best signage is understanding your surroundings. If you’re in need of assistance, Signarama Buffalo Grove can help you determine signage options that would be suitable for your restaurant.
