Twin Groves Named Blue Ribbon School

The Buffalo Grove middle school has been honored by the U.S. Department of Education.

Twin Groves Middle School was recognized for strong student performance with a 2013 Blue Ribbon award. 

Blue Ribbon status is given by the U.S. Department of Education to schools where “students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' academic achievement,” according to the program’s website.

Twin Groves’ recognition is for its high level of achievement. Kildeer Countryside School earned the same recognition in 2012. Both schools are part of District 96.

Twin Groves is among only 21 Illinois schools to earn the distinction this year. The honorees include 12 public schools and nine private schools

It will be among 286 schools across the U.S. honored at a November ceremony in Washington, D.C.
