Students, Staff Mourn Dean Craig Kincaid

Kincaid, a former dean at Buffalo Grove High School and current dean at Wheeling High School, has died.

Buffalo Grove and Wheeling high school students and staff are mourning the loss of Dean of Students Craig Kincaid.

Kincaid, who was dean at Buffalo Grove for 10 years before transferring to Wheeling for the 2012-13 school year, passed away this week.

School District 214 Spokeswoman Venetia Miles said Kincaid had been ill, but that she could not provide details about what caused his death. Kincaid was at work at Wheeling High School up until last week, Miles said.

Counselors will be available to Buffalo Grove and Wheeling students and staff who want to express their feelings, Miles said.

“The impact of this tragedy has touched the Buffalo Grove family deeply. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family and friends of the deceased,” Buffalo Grove High School Principal Carol Burlinski wrote in a June 5 email to parents.

An R.I.P Craig Kincaid Facebook page was created the afternoon of June 4. In about 24 hours, it had gained nearly 3,000 likes. An administrator of the page posted the following message on behalf of those whose lives were touched by Kincaid.

Dean Kincaid,

Although you may have left this world physically, you are still very much alive in all of our hearts. You were the best dean at BG and were my dean for 3 years. It's sad that you had to leave us this past year. You were the person I was most close to at BG and I knew that I could come to you for help in absolutely anything. You always cared and listened and the students loved you. You will always be in our hearts. You are truly missed.

Love, every single person whose hearts you've touchedVisitation for Kincaid will be held from 3-9 p.m. June 8 at Salerno's Rosedale Chapel, 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle. A chapel service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
