James Strezewski was appointed Tuesdy to the Kildeer Countryside School Board of Education, filling a vacancy left by Don Shannon, who .
Strezewski is a Buffalo Grove resident whose children attend District 96 schools. He and his wife Nina moved to Buffalo Grove about 10 years ago to raise their family, drawn by the community’s commitment to education and the solid academic and fiscal reputation of District 96 schools. Since then, he has supported Nina's active role in District 96 PTOs and has volunteered alongside her at numerous school events.
A graduate of Loyola University, Strezewski currently serves as the senior vice president/national director of LaSalle Investment Management (Jones Lang LaSalle). He is a certified public accountant with an extensive background in public accounting and an understanding of global accounting issues. His responsibilities have required him to work with a variety of industry organizations, as well as the Federal Accounting Standards Board, and to co-manage teams of accounting professionals.
“Jim Strezewski is deeply committed to our District and the community,” Superintendent Julie Schmidt said in statement. “His professional background is an asset in his role as a fiscal steward for the District 96 community.”
“Jim embraces the District’s mission to help every child achieve his or her maximum potential," Board President Marc Tepper said. "He brings a financial acumen and a long-term vision that will serve the community–and our students–very well.”
Strezewski’s appointment is effective immediately. He will hold the Board position through the balance of Shannon’s term, when his seat will be up for reelection on April 9, 2013.
