Stevenson to Purchase iPads for Students

The School Board will spend nearly $1.8 million on Apple technology.

Stevenson High School officials approved the school’s move into the next phase of its SMART (Stevenson Mobile Academic Real-time Technology) program.

The School Board voted unanimously Monday to purchase 2,000 iPads that will be used by the entire freshman and sophomore classes in the 2013-14 school year.

The board also approved the purchase of 280 MacBook Pro laptops for classroom use and 20 iMac desktop computers for the Special Education program.

The total price tag is $1,779,111.

If the school is spending $1,779,111.00 on 2,000 ipads, it seems they are being overcharged. I don't know of any ipad that costs $889.56. You would think Apple would cut them a deal! Wonder what the discrepancy is...hmmmmmmm

there is likely software that must be purchase which is included in the price. An iPad out of the box is not configured automatically to contain the software needed in a school.

...that being said they should still get a sizable discount being a school, and ordering a large quantity
