Stevenson Students Concoct Burgers for Tom & Eddie's

Four specialty entrees created by high school business students will be available to the public from 5-9 p.m. May 2.

How does a potato chip-topped hamburger sound? Or maybe you'd prefer breakfast on a bun? 

These are two of the creations of Stevenson High School students, whose specialty burgers will be available for purchase from 5-9 p.m. May 2 at Tom & Eddie’s in Vernon Hills.

The restaurant’s fourth Stevenson Burger Challenge will feature four concoctions by teams of students in Introduction to Business classes, Stevenson's Daily Digest reports. The most-purchased burger will remain on the restaurant’s menu for one month.

The contenders include:

Wakey Wakey Eggs & Bakey Burger ($8.99)

Angus beef patty, American cheese, over-easy egg, hash browns and bacon on a gourmet roll.

The Shake ‘n’ Bacon Burger ($9.99)

Angus beef patty on gourmet roll, with bacon, American cheese, pepper jack cheese, Asian BBQ sauce, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, haystack onions, pickles, tomatoes and red onion.

The CBC Burger ($8.99)

Crispy chicken, chipotle barbecue sauce, haystack onions, lettuce, tomato, pepper jack cheese and honey mustard on a pretzel roll.

The Krunch Burger ($9.99) 

Butcher’s blend patty (house ground sirloin/short rib/brisket patty), bacon, muenster cheese, potato chip topping and ketchup on a pretzel roll.

Ten percent of proceeds from the Stevenson Burger Challenge will benefit March of Dimes. Stevenson students and employees who show their school ID will receive a free drink.
