St. Mary School Cross Country Goes to State

The St. Mary School boys varsity cross country team began the season with hopes of repeating its trip to Normal for the 2009 IESA CC Championship race. On Oct. 9, the runners achieved their goal by qualifying with a 2nd place finish at the state sectional race. The team had three individuals in the top 10, and five runners in the top 20 of the race.

On Oct. 16, Malcolm Fitts, Jake Wenzel, John Caffarelli, Bobby Bitter, Robert Rao, Max Klikuszowian and Michael Orsini not only competed in the IESA CC Championship, but also out performed St. Mary's 21st place finish in 2009 with a 14th place finish. Two of the boys, Fitts and Wenzel, placed in the top 50 individuals in the state.
