Parents Speak Out Over Lack of Pools in District 214

Only three of six pools in the district have swimming pools.

Some parents in Northwest Suburban High School District 214 are upset about the lack of swimming pools in the district, the Daily Herald reports.

Just three out of six high schools in the district are equipped with swimming pools, leaving students at Rolling Meadows, Prospect and Hersey without the option to swim on campus. Parents recently asked school board members why $11 million was being spent on Buffalo Grove High School pool renovations instead of putting that money toward installing pools at the schools that don’t have one. Although the board did not comment recently on the issue, Superintendent David Schuler said last year that putting in new pools would force the district to cut back in other areas financially, the newspaper reports.
