'Active Parenting' Class

The fall "Active Parenting Classes of Teens" video discussion program will be offered to all interested Buffalo Grove High School and John Hersey High School parents beginning Sept. 21.

The course will meet from 7-9pm on Tuesday evenings at John Hersey High School, 1900 E. Thomas St., Arlington Heights. Classes will be held Sept. 21 and 28; and Oct. 5, 12, 19, and 26.  Registration is limited to 100 parents.

The course will help parents talk to teens about family issues, as well as drugs, sexuality, and the ever-looming threat of violence. Discipline skills that protect and guide adolescents will be discussed.

More than 1,000 parents from Buffalo Grove and Hersey have benefited from Active Parenting courses over the past six years.

A $20 fee per family is due at the first class on Sept. 21. Each attendee or family will receive a parent guidebook, which includes activities and guide sheets that reinforce and expand skills taught in the course.
