District 96 School Receives Blue Ribbon Award

Kildeer Countryside School will be honored by the U.S. Department of Education.

Kildeer Countryside School is among the nation's top schools, according to the U.S. Department of Education, which has named the Long Grove elementary school as a 2012 Blue Ribbon Award recipient.

Schools receive National Blue Ribbon School recognition in one of two categories – “exemplary high performing” and “exemplary improving.” Kildeer Countryside School earned recognition in the high-performing category, as measured by state assessments and nationally normed tests.

Ninety-eight percent of the school's students met or exceeded academic benchmarks, based on 2011 Illinois Standards and Achievement Test results.

Principal Jennifer Smith and teachers shared news of the award with students on Sept. 10. Later this fall, the school will celebrate its blue ribbon recognition with a representative from the U.S. Department of Education, the District 96 School Board and other distinguished guests.
