District 214 Names New School Board Member

Todd Younger was selected to replace Lenore Bragaw.

Arlington Heights resident Todd Younger has been selected to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education.  Younger succeeds Lenore Gonzales Bragaw, who resigned last month because she moved and no longer met the residency requirements. He will complete the last two years of Bragaw’s four-year term.

"We are very excited to have Todd join the District 214 Board of Education,” Board President James Perkins said. “We believe his professional experience in commercial banking and his active community involvement will be an asset to this board. As an involved parent of two teenage children, he will also add valuable perspective and insight into the various programs that our schools are offering."

An Arlington Heights resident, Younger is a 1982 John Hersey High School graduate. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign and a master’s in business administration from Loyola University Chicago. He currently is a vice president and senior commercial banker at First Midwest Bank, where he provides counsel and guidance to privately held businesses in Chicago and the suburbs.

“I am both excited and honored to have the opportunity to serve with such an experienced and well regarded school board,” Younger stated. “I look forward to making positive contributions to ensure our facilities are competitive, technology is utilized, and great teachers and administrators are celebrated and rewarded, while staying true to our overall goals while maintaining fiscal responsibility for the community.”

Younger’s community involvement includes coaching soccer and baseball for the Arlington Heights Park District, serving on his local Homeowners Association, and volunteering for several local charitable groups in varying capacities. Believing that a strong public school system directly enhances the surrounding community, he became involved with the District 214 Board to ensure that all students get the best education possible.
