District 214 Appoints Associate Superintendent for Human Resources

Todd Colvin has been selected to replace a retiring administrator.

The Township High School District 214 Board of Education has appointed veteran educator Todd M. Colvin associate superintendent for human resources, effective July 1. Colvin is currently the associate superintendent for administrative services at Oswego Community Unit School District 308. He will succeed Randy Hawley when he retires at the end of the school year.

"As a member of the selection committee, I was most impressed with Mr. Colvin's educational background, as well as his grasp of human resources," School Board member Alva Kreutzer said. "His 17 years in a school environment is key to understanding the complexities of educational staffing. Add his district administration experience and Todd had an edge over others."

Colvin taught social studies at Joliet West and Lincoln-Way Central high schools for five years before accepting an administrative position at Lockport Township High School in 1993. One year later he joined Oswego Community Unit School District 308 where he has held numerous administrative positions, including assistant principal and principal of Oswego High School, principal of Thompson Jr. High School, assistant superintendent for administration, and currently, associate superintendent for administrative services.

“We are very excited to have Mr. Colvin join the District 214 team," Superintendent David R. Schuler said. "The wealth of experience he brings to our school district will benefit students, staff and the community.”

In addition to leading multiple committees in redistricting boundaries and facilitating strategic planning, Colvin has been responsible for all personnel functions, including recruiting and hiring hundreds of teachers and administrators. He also has instituted a new administrator appraisal system focused on goal setting, student achievement, and individual performance; and he has renegotiated employee health and dental plans resulting in more than $1 million in savings.
