Buffalo Grove, Wheeling Teens Among Commended Students

They placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Students from Buffalo Grove and Wheeling high schools were among 52 School District 214 students named Commended Scholars in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship program.

The distinction is based on students' scores from the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) taken in October 2012.

Approximately 34,000 high performers have been named Commended Students throughout the nation and are recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2014 competition for National Merit scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the PSAT/NMSQT.
