BGHS Grad Chosen for College Research Project

Kayla Huber will study cells as a Richter Scholar at Lake Forest College.

Buffalo Grove resident Kayla Huber was selected as a Richter Scholar at Lake Forest College. Huber will work on a biology research project with Professor Douglas Light titled, "Regulation of Cell Volume in Red Blood Cells." Huber will investigate the biological mechanisms that allow a cell to control its size.

The Richter Apprentice Scholar Program offers a unique research opportunity to a small group of outstanding students early in their college careers. During the summer between their first and second years, Richter Scholars are employed as apprentice scholars working one-on-one with faculty members conducting independent research.

Huber, a graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, is expected to graduate from Lake Forest College in 2016.
