BGHS Gives 'The Crucible' a Modern Twist

Buffalo Grove's fall play runs Nov. 3-5.

's fall production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible presents a modern spin on the 17th century Salem Witch Trials of Massachusetts. Miller wrote the play in 1953 as an allegory to "McCarthyism," at a time when the U.S. government blacklisted accused communists.

In a timeless setting with non-period specific costumes and sets, the BGHS play draws from today's headlines of student bullying, damaging rumors, and random acts of violence, our modern-day "witch hunts," that have the same devastating effects. The play will be performed Nov. 3-5, with a 7 p.m. curtain time Nov. 3 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 and 5.

The cast includes the following: Joe Cavaiani, Christina Melgar, Chris Cooper,  Jillian Lynch, Jimmy Van Der Bosch, Caroline Lindsay, Tyler Nelson, Mack Logan, Brandon Sokol, Nick Sorgani, Paige Larkowski, Natalie Kozelka, Kymeisha Perot, Erin Logan, Mandy Thoenen, Ana Leon Morales, Skyler From, Bob Hussey, Ian Connery and Kayla DeFrenza.
