97 Percent of Stevenson Grads College Bound
University of Illinois is the most popular destination.
Ninety-seven percent of ’s Class of 2012 is going to college, the second-highest percentage in school history, according to the College/Career Center’s annual report on graduating seniors. The report, which includes information on 1,042 graduating seniors, includes the following highlights:
- 87 percent of the class is attending four-year schools and 10 percent will go to two-year schools. The percentages are identical to the Class of 2011.
- 60 percent of the class is attending a public institution, a decrease of 5 percentage points from 2011; 37 percent of the class is planning to begin its college education within the state of Illinois, a decrease of 7 percentage points from 2011.
The Class of 2012 can be found on 181 different campuses.
The University of Illinois at Urbana remains the top school of choice, with 127 students — 14 percent of the SHS students heading to four-year colleges — planning to attend this fall.
The five most popular four-year public universities for Stevenson’s latest graduates are: the University of Illinois (127); Indiana University (61); University of Iowa (47); University of Illinois at Chicago (37); and Illinois State University (36). The top six private schools are: DePaul University (35); Loyola University Chicago (20); Columbia College (15); Bradley University (13); and Marquette University (12) and Northwestern University (12).
