A small group of District 96 Woodlawn Middle School 8th-grade girls decided to work together to do something positive.
It began with 14 Post-It notes they stuck to the mirror in the 8th-grade girls bathroom. The notes displayed encouraging, confidence-building ideas and suggestions for their classmates.
Eighth-grade girls who visited the restroom during the day discovered they had the opportunity to add their own uplifting mirror messages. Tapping the supply of Post-It notes left for that purpose by the first note-posters, the teenagers wrote from their hearts.
When the dismissal bell rang, the mirror was completely covered with over 200 affirming messages.

Said Principal Greg Grana, "As a principal, I have never been more proud of my students as for these self-initiated actions."
