2011 is definitely a year I know I won’t forget. Education has changed at a rapid pace over the past 2 years. The changes have affected teachers, students and parents from the preschool level all the way through higher education.
When I began college, I had an incredible passion for education (yes, I still do). I knew I wanted to teach, and make a difference in the lives of others. I was also told that teaching was like healthcare (there would always be a need for teachers, like doctors and nurses). Um, okay, so what happened?
Just like President Clinton said: “It’s the economy, stupid.”

It is not only the economy, as politics and social issues have also taken a role in the driver's seat.
Yes, there is still a need for teachers, but there is now a surplus of teachers, with fewer jobs to go around.

The purpose of this blog is to reach out to those who have been out of work, can’t find a job (not only for teachers, but for anyone), or have simply given up looking. Don’t give up!
I hope to bring together a community of people to help each other with tips, suggestions, experiences, and discussions, so we can all better ourselves and support each other during such uncertain times.
How has the economy affected you? Did you go back to school? Did you look at yourself and find talents that you never knew existed? Have you used your talents for a new career? Do you use social networking? Are you now an entrepreneur?
True learning takes place when emotion is attached. Since leaving a steady job in higher education, I have learned the most about myself in the past 2 months, than in any other time in my life. I am much stronger than I believed myself to be, and I discovered talents that were pushed aside for many years.
I’d almost inch to say I am now a bit of an entrepreneur (ouch, just writing the word ‘entrepreneur’ is a bit overwhelming).
