Why November 1st is an Important Date

In the 25+ years we have been working with college admissions, we have been witness to what we refer to as “the admission deadline creep”.   While many colleges have deadline dates in December, January and February, the admission trend has been towards November Early Decision, Early Action and most importantly, Priority deadlines.  While early decision and early action may or may not improve your chances for admission, missing a “Priority” deadline will definitely hurt you.  In addition, many institutions use these deadlines to qualify for scholarship consideration.

For example, at the University of Michigan, not having all your application materials sent by November 1st will put you at a significant disadvantage.  Students who complete applications after November 1st are often held to a higher standard and/or compete for fewer “spots” than those who apply by November 1st.

Since many colleges have some form of an early November date, it’s definitely time to get going on those applications!  For help with your college admission needs, contact us at raviniacollegeconsulting.com or raviniacc@gmail.com.
