Village President Revokes Spa's License

GQ Spa was ordered to cease operations Sept. 29 following a hearing called in response to recent prostitution charges.

Five days after village leaders testified about alleged acts of prostitution at , Buffalo Grove’s village president revoked the massage parlor’s license.

Jeff Braiman said Monday that he ordered revocation of the business’ license Sept. 29, effective immediately. His decision followed a two-part hearing last month where officials and business representatives asked for another chance.

Braiman called the hearing after Buffalo Grove police charged a GQ Spa employee with prostitution in July. Similar charges were filed against two other GQ Spa employees in 2006 and 2010.

In all three incidents, “the sexual or genital areas of a patron … were not covered by towels, cloths or undergarments when in the presence of an employee or massage therapist” and the masseuse “placed her hand upon and touched, fondled or massaged the sexual or genital area of another person,” Braiman wrote in the order of revocation.

“The evidence was clear and convincing,” he said after publicly announcing his decision Monday night.

In the order of revocation, Braiman also noted that there is "no legal entity which holds a valid business license" in the village. Buffalo Grove business licenses were granted in each of those three years to “GQ Spa” and a massage establishment license was issued in 2011 to “GQMT Enterprise, Inc.," an Illinois corporation which records show "has no approved assumed name," the order states.

In addition, the village's massage license application named Chris Hong as president of the corporation. Suk Santos, who is also known as Chrstina Lee, is actually the president of GQMT Enterprise, but she never applied for a license, according to Braiman's order.

While village code prohibits license transfers for massage establishments, “the course of conduct there gave reason to revoke [the license] regardless,” Braiman said.

GQ Spa representatives have until Oct. 9 to file an appeal with the Village Board.

There was no answer or messaging service at GQ Spa’s phone number Monday night.

“It is my understanding that they have ceased doing business,” Braiman said.
