Let's hope Rep. Mathias finally addresses the question that's been on lots of peoples' minds lately; does he agree with his political friend Lisa Stone that there is a problem with the water quality in BG, or does he agree with the data contained in the report presented by Mr. Boyson at the BG Board meeting last month that concludes that there is NO problem? Ms. Stone has contended many times that she was instrumental in helping to get him elected and that they are close friends, and he supported her campaign and ill- fated tenure as BG trustee. Does he now support her clean water coalition, and if so, what are his reasons for supporting it? If he does believe there is a problem with BG water, why hasn't he taken action to protect BG citizens? If he does not support it, why not? And why has he not issued any statement to that effect? We'd like some answers, since both he and Ms. Stone have avoided all requests to answer those questions over the last two months.

RelentlessCritic: Sid was not on the Board in 2005 when the Shaw Environmental Review of the Land & Lakes Landfill (owned by Lake Forest Mayor Jim Cowhey), voted by full BG Resolution, dedicated $25K to said study. Curiously, the study was mysteriously dropped and audaciously purged from BG government record, which happened to reveal approximately 5 years of missing or illegible ground water data which I discovered in my Freedom of Information documents of Lake County in 2010, thankfully IT WAS ON RECORD! Imagine that? Why did BG get rid of and further deny said study when I asked for it AS A TRUSTEE? Given that, unless Sid researched the Shaw Review, which wasn't his responsibility as a State Representative, he wouldn't know the data that EXISTED. On the other hand, the sitting Board members in 2005 understood that the study was hired & dropped....though somehow BG applied for and accepted Brownfield Grant Money in exchange for cleaning the waters which never occurred! I can't speak for Sid, but it was nice seeing him few weeks ago with my son, as his character remains strong, unlike the other 2 "officials" that went for my Recall and now must feel ashamed given how dependable I was in their lives. Sid made a hard choice & never caved. As you're realizing, he's a smart and ethical man. I worked quite hard for him through the years because he deserved it, as he's been a rare official demonstrating morality, which is unique these days in BG and far beyond.

You completely missed the point, as usual. I want to know where he stands TODAY. RIGHT NOW. THIS VERY MOMENT. I want to know if he has any concerns about BG's water quality. AND I would like to know if he supports your silly little coalition. I'd also like to know if you've ever asked him for support, and if so, what did he say? I don't expect to get a truthful answer from you because you'd never admit it if he rejected you. Therefore, Mr. Mathais needs to answer rhat question as well. And don't try to throw some nonsense to me that you never asked him for support- you've been trying to get your so-called political friends to support you and haven't had any luck at all. That's also why you came up with the lame excuse that you are intentionally keeping the size of your coalition small. If he supports your coalition and has cocncerns about BG water quality, then why has he not done anything? If he has NO concerns about the water quality, then he must not support your coalition. I want to know where he stands on this issue.

"I can't speak for Sid, but it was nice seeing him few weeks ago with my son". You saw him, so what? I saw him walking around the Farmers Market. I said hello. He said hello back. Does that mean he supports me? I think RC raises an excellent question. However, I will turn this question somewhat and completely take personalities out of it: Does Mr. Matias support your CONCERNS and ACCUSATIONS about the Land & Lakes issue, and about the water quality in the community? Does he currently feel that BG has a problem with its water supply? Since he certainly understands zip codes, does he SEPARATELY feel that the Pekara subdivision has a problem with ITS water supply? Mr. Mathias is running for reelection, and his constituents have a right to know where he stands on these issues.

Oh yeah I'm sure those other two officials are kicking themselves for not riding your coat tails.
Mark Bushey August 13, 2012 at 07:49 PM
I have written Rep. Mathias. He claims he is coming out with a statement. He has not yet. I can not attend the meeting, but if someone is attending, I would like them to raise this question with him. And please, post his reply.

I just asked Sid about BG water issues. He said he was unaware of them and tha he had no place in the discussion. I mentioned that he keeps getting dragged into it, so he asked what the problem was with our water. I said there was none and Sid said "I agree". So there you go, Sid says there is no problem with our water. Your coalition will not be growing at all Lisa.
Mark Bushey August 14, 2012 at 12:41 AM
Ask him if he supports Lisa Stone
Stuart Tindall August 14, 2012 at 12:42 AM
I will do so in private afterwards. Others are asking questions now.
Walter White August 14, 2012 at 12:49 AM
He IS a smart and ethical man. He wants nothing to do with Lisa Stone!
Mark Bushey August 14, 2012 at 12:50 AM
Thank you for the updates. I really wish I could have made it, but I work nights.
Stuart Tindall August 14, 2012 at 12:54 AM
Although someone just asked about his opinion about the disruption of the board meetings and he totally dodged the question with meaningless platitudes about civility.
Mark Bushey August 14, 2012 at 12:55 AM
Has the destructive Hurricane Lisa made an appearance?
Stuart Tindall August 14, 2012 at 01:18 AM
Lisa was not in attendance. Sid was a bit evasive, he does not want his silence to mean he does or does not support the coalition, but from his private statements he mentioned he was not in support. He will not comment on the issue publicly, which I agree with as this is something that we should resolve locally.
Mark Bushey August 14, 2012 at 01:32 AM
So what was learned at this meeting overall?
Stuart Tindall August 14, 2012 at 01:51 AM
Well, it was mostly related to pensions and downtown BG, although details were pretty skimpy on those. Also, Lake County is apparently super awesome and all other counties in Illinois should be jealous. But as far as Lisa goes, who you heard was what I posted. I can understand that any non Village official wants to stay quiet and ignore her. And that is the right course of action in public. If Mr. Mathias were to be asked at a press conference and came out against Lisa, all it would do is confirm in her mind that she is important because a State Representative denounced her. Not everyone can have that happen to them after all! So really, paying her any attention at the higher levels will feed her egotistical sociopathy. But down here in the muck, we can hold her in some small check.
RELENTLESSCRITIC August 14, 2012 at 02:25 AM
Not much substance at all. As for Mathias' comments, let's just say he took the gutless weenie approach and tap danced around the questions as much as he could. He's scared to death of making a public statement about his position because he'll have to deal with the wrath of Stone, and he sure doesn't need that nonsense before an election. At least he came clean afterwards. I wonder how Stone will respond now that he admitted he doesn't support her silly cause. My guess is she'll call you a liar Stuart, which I'd consider a high complement coming from her. So at least we have the truth- her good buddy Mathias doesn't think there is a problem with BG's water and he doesn't support her coalition. She probably didn't show up because she knew he'd be asked that question and she couldn't stand the humiliation of having another former supporter bail on her. Hey Ms. Stone- no need to save your buddy Sid a seat at Laughingstock- he's not gonna show up.
Walter White August 14, 2012 at 02:59 AM
OMG I just watched the video of the latest village board meeting. ABSOLUTE BATSH&T CRAZY. How dare she take up valuable meeting time with her insanity. I can't believe the patience President Braiman has with her. I'd have the police escort her out the building immediately after her time is up.
Mark Bushey August 14, 2012 at 04:05 AM
How can someone who's Tony "coalition" with Vernon Township in it's name not attend this meeting?
Mark Bushey August 14, 2012 at 04:06 AM
Damn you autocorrect. That should say tiny.
"Silence is the element in which great things fashion themselves together; that at length they may emerge, full-formed and majestic, into the daylight of Life, which they are thenceforth to rule. Not William the Silent only, but all the considerable men I have known, and the most undiplomatic and unstrategic of these, forbore to babble of what they were creating and projecting." Sartor Resartus, 1831 Considering what has been 'presented as truth and fact' by a person whom shall remain nameless, the below is something that I think the aforementioned person needs to read at least a dozen times and see why one needs to 'engage brain before putting mouth in gear'. Think things through to a logical conclusion to ensure what it is to be presented is actually fact and worthwhile.
"he's a smart and ethical man" ... He's a politician and 'tap danced' and 'waffled' around a question that required a direct answer that could have been supplied with but a single word. His 'vagueness' in responding to a few questions did not, in my mind, show any 'abundance' of ethics and morality.
RELENTLESSCRITIC August 14, 2012 at 02:40 PM
GHEMROAR- Nope, but cowardice comes to mind. The guy wasn't willing to take ownership of his own position on these matters. If he won't clarify his position, then it is up to us to interpret where he stands- and that won't be pretty for him. IMHO- his silence and evasiveness indicates tacit approval and endorsement of Stone's behavior and her causes. He's given us little to no reason to believe otherwise, even though he's had countless opportunities to do so. That's the price he'll pay for being a gutless weasel.
Barleysoup August 14, 2012 at 07:01 PM
Can't wait to see the official statement "State Rep. Sid Mathias (R-53rd) endorsed by Recalled Trustee Lisa Stone". I'm sure he wil appreciate your support.
RELENTLESSCRITIC August 14, 2012 at 07:23 PM
Sid can automatically deduct almost 9000 votes from Buffalo Grove. Or add them to Sente's side.

Tindall - aren't U the sociopath that got busted for filming up little girls skirts at BG Days a few years ago?? Got something against women like most of the sociopathic men do here in BG ?... Along with the Sociopath's that run the police and fire departments here in BG??? Conclusion: 98% men in BG + BGPD/BGFD = SOCIOPATH x 1,000,000,000,000...
