Buffalo Grove’s golf director was recognized by village officials for 39 years of service on Monday, which was his last day on the job.
Carmen Molinaro, who has led operations at both the Buffalo Grove Golf Course and the Arboretum Club course, was praised for his accomplishments, which have included receiving a PGA Gold Professional of the Year Award.
“It’s been a labor of love. I’ve enjoyed every single year I’ve been here since 1973,” said Molinaro, who thanked village staff and the community for their support.
“I’m not going to disappear. I’m not going to be working, but I’ll still be around," he said.
Village President Jeff Braiman presented Molinaro with a certificate recognizing his service to Buffalo Grove.
“You’ve touched a lot of people’s lives. You’ve made the experience on the golf course a great one,” he said.
The village has appointed an interim director at each course.
I have nothing but praise for Carmen. I play Arboretum 1/wk, BG 1/mo (for some 15 years), and help bring in and run 2 outings per year at Arboretum. My wife and I play a lot of other courses also. As a customer, I can tell you that Carmen and his staff are as professional as they come. They are friendly, helpful, accomodating, and know their jobs. Carmen has always been a gentleman of the highest caliber, and he will be sorely missed. Carmen: Congratulations on your well deserved retirement. It has been a privilege to know you.
