Vernon Area Library Seeks Board Candidates

Nominating petitions now available

Packets for the April 5, 2011, Vernon Area Public Library District Board of Trustees election are now available. Two of the board's seven seats will be filled at that election.

Candidate packets may be picked up at the Adult Services Desk during normal library hours: 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon–5 p.m. Sunday.

To qualify to run, prospective candidates must reside within the Vernon Area Public Library District and be registered to vote. They must also secure the signatures of at least 50 qualified voters who reside within the Vernon Area Public Library District on a Petition For Nomination. Prospective candidates may begin circulating nominating petitions, which are included in the packets, beginning Sept. 21.

Completed Petition Packets should be filed at the library no earlier than 9 a.m. on Dec. 13, and no later than 5 p.m. on Dec. 20. Candidates' names will appear on the election ballot in the order in which their nominating papers are received at the library.

Candidates elected will serve six-year terms expiring in April 2017. The Board meets monthly at the Vernon Area Public Library in Lincolnshire.
